Ubuntu Linux

Monday May 23, 2005
I used Redhat Linux back in the day when 7.3 was the current release and when Redhat Linux was free with free updates. I had been thinking about installing Linux again and had been casually looking for a distribution I might want to hang my hat on (so to speak) when I discovered Ubuntu Linux.

(1) Frank Harris-Smith says:

Ubuntu is nice, but it has relatives Kubuntu and Xubuntu. Kubuntu has the KDE desktop and Xubuntu has the XFCE desktop.

I’m running Xubuntu on an antique Pentium II laptop with very limited memory. Works great for WiFi Internet access, which is what it’s for (no virus or spyware worries).

It’s very stable and I like it far better than Windows of any flavor.
