Mygrocerydeals.com Grocery Deal Finder

Sunday April 9, 2006
I love Web based services, and when a service can save me money, save me time, and do it all for free I'm in Web service heaven. Now I don't need to go through the weekly painful ritual of gathering all the newspaper grocery fliers and trying to figure out who has what deals. Read the service profile to find out how to more about this time and money saving free service. (US)

I appreciated the tip about the mygrocerydeals.com website. That sort of website is of real interest to me. Unfortunately, it has no information
for Missouri at all, which is bad for me since I live in the St. Louis metro area. However, I wanted to talk about a website I am able to use successfully that might be helpful to other people who can’t use the mygrocerydeals.com website either. It is called couponmom.com, and I have been using it since the first of the year. You might want to check it out. It is very helpful because it teaches you how to match up your coupons with the grocery store sales in your area in order to absolutely maximize your savings. There is also a shopping list for Walgreens on the site as well as the grocery stores for each state. Using the site is completely free. I’ll bet people who enjoy this blog would be interested in knowing about it.

Another similar site is thegrocerygame.com. On that site, only the Walgreens list is free, but the grocery store lists must be paid for as
a subscription. You can get a trial subscription for $1, but I do not have any experience with that. I only have used it for the free Walgreens listing, but it is very worthwhile for that purpose.

I have been tired of throwing away so many unused coupons, and yet I had also grown weary of clipping and sorting them, not to mention short of time. Either or both of these websites afford me the best of both worlds. I simply keep and file the coupon inserts from the weekend newspaper in their entirety (unclipped), and I only clip the coupons as needed just before I am about to use them. I can use the Virtual Coupon Organizer tool on the couponmom.com website to find coupons for products that are not on the list that week if I need to buy any unlisted items. That way, I make sure I don’t buy an item without a coupon that I had
a coupon for, which really used to frustrate me. I can honestly say
that this year, I was able to keep my New Years resolution not to waste
so many coupons and to shop more intelligently. It is too easy to just
go to a store like Walmart and buy things as you need them and not bother about the coupons. However, I have found that by using this method, I am consistently able to beat even Walmart since the products often end up being free or very little money, and this system doesn’t take nearly as much time as what I had been trying to do before. While Walmart might have a low every day price, they do not typically run sales, and they are obviously not giving away items for free, so the stores that do these things can beat even Walmart’s prices, especially when combined with coupons, which is what usually makes the product so cheap.

The best kept secret I have discovered due to these two websites has got to be the Walgreen’s Easy Saver program which offers many free items each and every month (with mail-in rebate). I am in awe of the savings I have been receiving. I get my Walgreens gift cards in the mail (containing my rebates) and can then totally pay for my next shopping trip at Walgreens (where I buy more rebate items and repeat the process month after month). What a deal! Who knew? Not me, so I thought I would let people know in case any of you readers would enjoy parlaying the freebates at Walgreens!

I just used this site the other day to make my shopping list. It was quick and easy and I’m sure I got some deals I would have missed just using the newspaper. Very cool site.

Nothing for the metropolitan New York area, only upstate which is useless for me.

Regarding geographic coverage by mygrocerydeals.com web site. While the site is still very new, and they are adding cities and stores all the time. New York and Southern California will be added around the end of April and some very good coverage for Missouri currently exists, including six markets (cities) and at least 6 major stores listed for each market. Mygrocerydeals.com members are encouraged to e-mail the company to add their favorite store if they don’t see it listed and they’ll do their best to get it on the site as quickly as possible.
