Free Money for your Old Cell Phone

Don't throw them away - - donate or sell them

Due to changes in cell phone providers, updated technology, or the need for new features, many of us end up with several useless cell phones in our possession. You could just throw them away, but why do that when you can get good money for them?

Donate and Deduct

If you itemize your taxes, or if you just want to make sure the most good comes out of the reuse of your old cell phone, you can donate it. There are a number of non-profit organizations that can put old cell phones to use. The Wireless Foundation is one such organization. They will either refurbish the cell phone for use by a victim of domestic violence or sell it to help raise funds for a variety of charities.

Sell your Cell

There are also a number of companies that will buy your cell phone, but there are usually a limited number of models that are in demand and prices paid will vary widely by model. You can find links to a couple of these companies at the right. I’ve not done business with any of these myself. I have just included the links for your convenience.

It's your Choice

If you can make use of the tax deduction, you will probably get more money by donating your cell phone than by selling it since you can deduct the fair market value. However, some cell phone models are in demand and will bring a pretty decent price if you sell them. It’s up to you to decide, but either option us much better than throwing that old cell phone away.
