Update: Unfortunately Myplay.com no longer offers free storage. You can find other free file storage options here.

Myplay.com not only gives you 3 gigabytes of online storage space for MP3s, they also make it easy for you to download, upload, listen to, and share MP3 files. Whether you are an MP3 veteran or a newcomer, you will find this service very useful.

When I first encountered myplay.com I had to look twice. I was amazed that they were offering 3 gigabytes of MP3 storage. With that amount of storage you can have the equivalent of 700 or more CD tracks available anywhere you have access to the Internet. Other digital music formats are also supported.

Just the free file storage alone is enough to make this site very attractive, but the ease of use features and free MP3 files they have available make it a real music lover's bonanza.

When you register, your free myplay locker is created. You can add files to your locker in a number of ways. Myplay offers a variety of free MP3s from popular artists right on their site that you can instantly add to your locker. If you want to hear a sample of the track before you add it you can listen to a 30 second snippet first.

If you are using Windows and Internet Explorer you can use their free DropBox software to transfer files directly from other Web sites to your locker. You can also transfer MP3 files directly to your locker from EMusic.com with one click and without special software. Myplay has a partnership with Listen.com and you can easily jump over to the Listen.com site and search for MP3 files. Some of the files you locate will be free and some will require payment to download.

You can upload files from your computer that you have either downloaded elsewhere or have ripped from your CD collection. You can also download your files to your computer or even to a portable MP3 player if you use the DropBox software.

If you choose, you may create playlists and make them available either to friends that you invite by email or you can publish the playlist for all other myplay users. If you publish your playlists you will need to check the onsite help for rules regarding how many tracks from one artist etc. that you may use.

Myplay.com's stated mission is to "provide a better digital music experience for the consumer." I think they have hit the mark well with this service.
