Free Boating Safety Books for Public; MetLife(R) Auto & Home Earns Top Award from National Safe Boating Council at North American Safe Boating Week Kickoff
July 2001 (Newstream) -- MetLife Auto & Home and its mascot, SnoopyTM, joined the United States Coast Guard, the National Safe Boating Council, National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and others who teamed up to educate boaters about preventing injury or death while boating. The public celebration was recently held in Washington, DC.
"The number one cause of death of boaters is accidental drowning," said Virgil Chambers, Executive Director of the National Safe Boating Council. "There is no reason these deaths cannot be prevented if people learn to boat smart and wear their life jackets."
MetLife Auto & Home offers its comprehensive boating safety guide, which consolidates 15 US Coast Guard brochures, free to the public. The guide includes colorful navigation charts; information on hurricane observations and precautions; emergency marine radio frequencies; safety tips for trailering; water-skiing safety advice; and other vital information for staying safe on the water.
