Are you a natural organizer? Even if organizing a group is not your first inclination, you might just want to bite the bullet and do it anyhow. And why would you want to do that? How does free travel to exotic locations sound for a motivator?
There are a number of tour companies that have a program whereby the organizer of a travel group can travel for free with a group's paid tickets. Your first thought might be "won't the members of the group be upset that they are paying and I'm not?". Remember that doing a good job of organizing a group of people for a successful tour takes work and a particular set of skills. There are many people who would be very happy to let someone else deal with the details so all they need to do is come up with the money and have a good time.
I have put together a list of sites that make this type of offer. I have not used any of them personally and I would suggest that you check them out thoroughly before you have your group pay any money up front. I would do things like get a list of previous customers and give those references a call. This is the only smart thing to do when making travel arrangements through an unfamiliar agent even if there is no free travel involved.
