Creating GeoCities Websites - Book Review

So you want to build your home page on GeoCities, the largest and most sophisticated free home page provider on the Net. The problem is there are so many choices and GeoCities is so big you simply don't know where to start. What you could use is a good printed manual. Creating GeoCities Websites may be just what you are looking for.

Creating GeoCities Websites was written with the full cooperation and support of GeoCities itself. The authors, Ben Sawyer and Dave Greely have worked with GeoCities to make the book both current and accurate. When I first heard about this book I wondered how long such a book could be considered current. The authors have this one covered by devoting a Website to providing up to the minute updates.

This Book's Major Features

  • Full color with screenshots
  • A good overview of GeoCities so you get the big picture
  • Explanation of all of the major page building tools
  • Advice on which tool to use for your experience level and purpose
  • Tips and tricks that even the experienced home page builders will appreciate
  • Examples of quality pages on the service
  • Adding multimedia and interactive content to your site

This title sets goals of showing you what you can do with your GeoCities site and how to go about doing it. In my opinion, it succeeds admirably in both areas. I recommend this book for both novices and those who have already built simple pages on GeoCities. GeoCities offers much for those who are willing to learn its secrets and this book is a great teacher.
