Redbox Perks (formerly Redbox Play Pass) is a rewards program that lets you earn points that can be redeemed for free Redbox rentals. 

Before you get your next rental, be sure to check out our updated Free Redbox Codes list, and you might be able to get a free DVD or Blu-ray rental.

Joining Redbox Perks Will Get You a Free Rental

You can get your first free rental just for joining Redbox Perks! New members will get one free one-night DVD rental (in the form of 1,500 points). This expires 2 weeks after receiving it, so plan to use it quickly.

Visit Redbox Perks ​and choose ACCEPT & SIGN UP to start the signup process. You'll need to log in to your existing account if you already have one.

After you're logged in, you'll be brought back to the perks page, and you can start earning.

How to Earn Points for Redbox Perks

To get rewards, you'll need to complete qualifying activities that will earn you points. Here's how:

Download and log in to the Redbox app for the first time 150 points
Add your first payment card to your profile 150 points
Complete every section of your profile 200 points
Enter your number and a PIN for text alerts 250 points
Rent a DVD 125 points /night
Rent a Blu-ray disc 125 points /night
Rent a 4K UHD disc 150 points /night
Rent or buy On Demand 125 points /transaction
Refer friends (up to 5) to rent or buy 500 points /friend

You'll receive your points within 24–48 hours after making your payment, unless it's for On Demand, in which case you'll see the points right after making the purchase.

  • One-night Blu-ray Rental (1,750 points)

Redbox Perks Levels of Status

Besides being able to collect points and spent them on a rental, you'll also be rewarded for how often you rent from Redbox within a calendar year. Here are the levels:

  • Member: Register for the program and remain in good standing
  • Star: Make 10–19 paid transactions
  • Superstar: Make 20–49 paid transactions
  • Legend: Make 50+ paid transactions

Transactions include renting DVDs, Blu-rays, or On Demand videos, purchasing a movie from a Redbox kiosk, purchasing digital codes, or purchasing an On Demand title.

Level Freebies From Redbox Perks

Depending on what level you're in with Redbox Perks, you'll get the following freebies:

  • Member: A free one-night DVD rental when you join, promotions throughout the year, a free one-night DVD rental on your birthday, and 50 points for every $1 spent for used disc purchases.
  • Star: All of the above, plus a 50 cents off reward code during your anniversary month, limited to two per year.
  • Superstar: The same as a Star member but you get three anniversary promo codes and alerts on new releases, two times the bonus points on select days, and 75 points for every $1 spent for used disc purchases.
  • Legend: All the same perks as a Superstar member but you get two free one-night disc rentals for your birthday, five half-dollar-off reward codes as an anniversary gift, triple points on special days, and 100 points for pre-rented movies.

Checking Your Redbox Perks Points Balance

You can view your Redbox Perks points balance by logging into your account and locating the balance at the top right corner of the page. It's also listed in your Redbox account.

More Redbox Perks Details

Here are a few more details about the Redbox Perks program that you should know:

  • It's only open to legal residents of the United States or Puerto Rico who are 18+.
  • You'll automatically be enrolled if you're new to Redbox.
  • You only get one Redbox Perks account.
  • Your points will expire 12 months from the date you earn them.
  • Your points will expire after 6 months of inactivity (remain active by renting or buying a disc at a kiosk; reserving a disk online or through the app; purchasing a digital code; or renting or buying via On Demand)
