Who needs a gigabyte of email storage?

From Lee Seats, for About.com

For those of us who have developed the habit of storing little or no email in our free web-based email accounts, one gig sounds like a ridiculously large and unnecessary amount of space. Then again, even if you don’t expect to ever need that much space, it does no harm to have it available. The following are some potential advantages to having a large amount of email storage space:

  • No Worries - You never need to worry that your mailbox will fill up and you will miss an important message.

  • Easy Backups -We all have files and notes that we want to make sure don’t get lost if we have a problem with our computer. You can email copies of those to your gigabyte email account as a quick, easy, and free method of backup.

  • Seek and Find - All of these accounts have search features, so you can easily locate messages that are saved in your mailbox.

  • Shuttle Service - If you need to move files between locations, work and home for example, you should have enough storage space to do that comfortably.

  • Coolness Factor – There is something that is just plain cool about having a web-based email account that can hold a gig of data, especially when it is totally free.
