As many of you know, I am a big fan of the Mozilla Firebird browser. Not just because I love anything that is free, but because I like the features and the improved security over IE. I've had no real reason to give the Opera browser a test drive until now.
Opera has announced that version 8.5 of their browser is free to all and no longer has an advertising banner as the previous free versions did. Well, now that Opera is truly free it is time for me to give it a spin.
I've downloaded it, installed it, and did a quick test drive by visiting some of the sites I tend to visit frequently. My initial reaction to the newly free Opera browser is very positive. It seems to be a very fast and flexible piece of HTML rendering software. It also sports a very bright and clean look.
I have to conclude that Opera is worth a closer look now that it is totally free. Anyone looking for a little more browsing fun may just want to grab a copy of Opera. I'll be doing more of my own test driving and will report back when I get a few more browsing miles under my belt.
