Music Lab Free MP3 Downloads

Columbia University is conducting a study on how people form opinions about music. All you need to do is listen to part of a song then click to rate the music. For each song your rate you get the choice to download the MP3 file.

How to get a the free MP3 downloads:
Visit the Music Lab site and after you register and fill out a short survey you will be presented with a list of about 50 songs from new and upcoming artists. Just click on any song and listen to part or all of it then click to rate the song. You can then download that MP3 if you wish.

Offer Availability:
The free MP3 downloads are available for anyone who is willing to listen to and rate them. There is no indication of how long the study will last, so you should probably grab all the songs you want sooner rather than later.

Are these free MP3 downloads legal?:
All the songs are available with the band or label's blessing. The MP3 downloads can be transferred to an MP3 player, burned to CD, or stored on you hard drive. You are not allowed to distribute the MP3 downloads to others.

What are the risks in registering and downloading the MP3 files?: You need to provide an email address, but they state that your address will not be given to others. They will send you the results of the study when it is done. Since the MP3 downloads are legal there is no risk in obtaining them for your own use.
