The University of California, Berkeley is offering free audio courses and lectures through iTunes. If you don't have iTunes software installed you need to download it for free. Some disciplines have lots of courses and some have very few. Each course consists of a series of audio files, one for each class lecture and are usually about 45 - 50 minutes long.

Simply Audiobooks is offering a new free audio book download every month. The first free download is [i]Living the Good Life[/i] and is read by the author, David Patchell-Evans. The audio books are in WMD format. As a brief review of the fist free offering, I will say that the content is interesting, but the author is a much better writer than he is a reader. However, his presentation does improve in the second half of the book.

The book is a 1200 page 40 megabyte PDF file and is fully searchable. The textbook is written to challenge and surprise the reader on every page. I wish there had been such a great free reference when I was a budding young scientist.
